Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Lorain

Seasonal music by Heinrich Schütz will be set in a reflective service of Evening Prayer. Soloists Amanda Powell and Nicole Keller will join strings and First Lutheran’s First Choir under Director of Music Brian Wentzel.

Advent Music is an annual event at First Lutheran, based on the Abendmusiken (evening music) made famous by Dieterich Buxtehude and Hugo Distler in Lübeck, Germany. Set within the framework of the Evening Prayer, these events use magnificent music to enhance the service and move the listener.

The concert is free and open to the public. It is part of First Lutheran's FIRST•music concert series, whose goal comes from the church's vision statement: to "use our musical resources to enhance our experience of God and as a gift to the community."
