Cleveland State offers a small ensemble course in Vocal Improvisation and Group Singing. Students learn about global cultures through folk music and indigenous improvisatory styles. These piece is a traditional South African song arranged by Matlakala Bopape of the Polokwane Chorale. It is about a bride (in this case, her name is Matlakala!)

Amanda directs the Vocal Improvisation Ensemble at Cleveland State University. The course explores indigenous improvisation styles through global folk music and spontaneous singing. In this video, her inaugural class in Fall 2017, sings a South African wedding song. 

At Kaleidosong's debut concert, Amanda Powell led the singers on stage as well as the audience in an entirely improvised piece.

In concert with a capella group, Kaleidosong, Amanda led a spontaneous improvisation with singers on stage and in the audience!
